The three most anticipated mobile chipsets of 2022 that is, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Exynos 2200,and Dimensity 9000 may not be that awesome in performance and efficiency gains after everything.
If tipster Golden Reviewer is to be believed, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 seems to be failing. Qualcomm, the industry leader, is under pressure to deliver this year since MediaTek is coming in strong and all three chipsets are based on the 4nm node process.
The latest of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC doesn’t spell much good news for Qualcomm as thermals seem to be a major issue.
According to Golden Reviewer, the chipset has heating issues, sustained performance and very obvious efficiency. One might say there might be an underlying problem with the chipset that’s tested but that’s a lame excuse at the end of the day.
More About The Thermal And Efficiency Issues Of The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
The tweet made by the tipster showed the in-depth tests and also showed that the Cortex A510cores used in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1are more powerful than the A55 cores on the Snapdragon 888 by 15%.
On the other hand, it is less efficient by 33%, and a very bad trade-off, to put it mildly. Looking at the bright side of things, these are just tests carried out on the device that we don’t know so much about.
Qualcomm might tweak things just right to get things back on track in real-world settings. Nevertheless, if the pattern of these unverified tests follows the released SoC finally running on an optimized mobile device, it will be totally disappointing.
