Twitter had last month announced that it is working on a recording feature for its audio chatroom Spaces so users who missed out on the live Space can listen to conversations later.

The company is now ready to test out this feature among end users . In a recent tweet, Twitter Spaces confirmed that it is enabling “some hosts” to record and share their Spaces.

The feature is initially available to a small number of hosts on iOS not Android, but should soon expand to other platforms as well.

Both Android and iOS users can listen to recorded Spaces.

According to Twitter, hosts will see a Record Space toggle when creating a new Space.

They will have to turn ON this toggle to record their Spaces. It appears you cannot start recording a live Space mid-way through it.

You’ll have to decide whether you want to record before starting the Space. However, a Twitter Space support page (via) notes that you can choose where to start your recording with an Edit start time option.

This will help you cut out “any dead air time” at the beginning.

When a live Space is being recorded, participants will be notified with a recording icon.

It will be visible to everyone, including the host, co-hosts, speakers, and listeners. But listeners will not be visible in the recordings.

After a recorded Space has ended, hosts will get a link to share out the recording via a tweet.

Any tweet that you may have posted to promote the space before the live broadcasting will also include a link to the recording after the broadcast has ended.

Twitter says hosts will have access to the recordings for 30 days after the initial broadcast.

They will be able to share the recording for greater reach within that period. Listeners can also share a recorded Space as well.

Meanwhile, if you don’t want to keep a recorded Space, you can delete it immediately . Twitter may still keep a copy of the recording for up to 120 days for review purposes though.

The ability to record live Spaces and share them on Twitter is the latest of a string of new features the company has added to its audio chatroom in recent months. Co-hosts and Ticketed Spaces are to name a few.

Going forward, Twitter is working on a particular tab for Spaces in the main app. It also recently launched a creators fund to support Space creators.

Twitter Spaces became available to everyone last week and so far it has been an amazing feature.
