On Sunday, Twitter support tweeted that it will no longer allow free advertising of certain social media platforms on Twitter.
“Specifically, we will remove accounts created solely for the purpose of promoting other social platforms and content containing links or usernames for the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social , Tribel, Nostr and Post,” he added.
Note: The post said it would still allow people to “crosspost content from any social media platform.” And “links or usernames to social media platforms not listed above,” such as Parler, TikTok or LinkedIn, are still allowed, he said.
Twitter did not explain why the blacklist included these seven sites and not others.
The practice of linking to other social media platforms is so pervasive that it’s unclear whether – or how – the company will enforce the restrictions.
